We provide scholarships for individuals experiencing mental health challenges, including PTSD, substance use disorder, and individuals in addiction recovery, to attend certified motorcycle safety training programs. The nonprofit programs are designed to increase ease of access to motorcycle safety while supporting community engagement for those in recovery. The organization partners with licensed motorcycle training providers that offer recognized rider education programs such as Motorcycle Operator Safety Training (MOST) courses or equivalent programs delivered by certified instructors. Training programs are conducted by independent, licensed training providers and certified instructors.
Redline Reset Project does not operate the training courses directly but instead provides scholarships that allow participants to enroll in existing certified training programs. Redline Reset Project is not a licensed mental health provider and does not offer therapy, counseling, crisis intervention, or medical treatment.

If you're looking to apply for a scholarship, please visit our Scholarship Application page to begin the process.
Redline Reset Project provides scholarships that help cover the cost of certified motorcycle safety training for individuals experiencing mental health challenges. Scholarships may cover all or part of the cost of an approved rider training course offered by licensed training providers.
To get started, complete the scholarship application and tell us a little about yourself and how participating in the program could support your personal goals. Our team reviews each application based on financial need, funding availability, and alignment with our mission. If selected, we'll guide you through the next steps, including connecting you with an approved training provider and helping you enroll in your training weekend.

Before enrolling in a motorcycle rider course, you typically apply through your DMV for a motorcycle instruction permit. This is a big step and can be confusing if your local licensing office is hard to reach or if the process feels unclear. If you need support, please reach out to us through our contact page if you would like any assistance toward taking your permit test.
After approval, the permit may take a few days to appear in the state system. You may receive a temporary permit until a physical permit is mailed to you. Please keep both as you may need to retake the permit test if they are lost. As long as you obtain a motorcycle instruction permit before the course you’re scheduled for, you’re set for the class (if you already know how to ride and are in a state where you can opt-out of the rider safety course, you must have your physical instruction permit card in order to apply for the motorcycle driving road test). Motorcycle rider courses take place over a 2 day “training weekend” combining riding practice with classroom instruction.
If you pass the course, you’ll receive a completion certificate that in some states waives the DMV riding skills test and in others serves as necessary proof of training when applying for your endorsement. Either way, you will need to go back to the DMV to finalize your endorsement and have it added to your driver’s license. In some states, a rider skills test may still be required at your DMV to complete the process, and in such cases rider courses oftentimes provide the bikes from the course when taking your final test.

We recognize that mental health and life experiences don’t always fit into clear labels. Our organization is designed to support individuals who have experienced mental health challenges, substance use, trauma, and is built to also include people who have gone through difficult circumstances that are not required to be named. If this is a program that feels like it could support your sense of direction in life, you are welcome to apply.

Scholarships may be used toward eligible certified motorcycle safety training programs offered by licensed training providers. If you already have a specific course or training provider in mind, let us know in your application. We'll review the course to ensure it meets our scholarship requirements, and if it's approved, your scholarship can be applied toward all or part of the training cost, depending on available funding.
We can also connect you with an eligible training provider and guide you through the enrollment process.
